INCLUDED IN THIS BOX SET:

BOOK 1 – DIRTY BLOOD

I killed a girl last night. I did it with my bare hands and an old piece of pipe I found lying next to the dumpster. But that’s not the part that got me. The part that scared me, the part I can’t seem to wrap my head around and still has me reeling, was that when she charged me, her body shifted – and then she was a wolf. All snapping teeth and extended claws. But by the time I stood over her lifeless body, she was a girl again. That’s about the time I went into shock… And that was the moment he showed up.

Now, all I can do is accept the truths that are staring me in the face. One, Werewolves do exist. And two, I was born to kill them.

BOOK 2 – COLD BLOOD

Wood Point Academy is not at all what I expected.

For one thing, it looks like a cross between military school and Buckingham Palace. Everyone stares, the floors shine so bright you can see your reflection in them from a mile away, and no one smiles. Unless they're kicking your butt in the process.

At least I've got plenty to take my mind off the fact that my psycho cousin, Miles De'Luca, keeps calling and declaring his love and promising to come for me just as soon as he's destroyed anyone standing in our way. Wes isn't going to like that idea. So between Miles, Wood Point's evil welcoming committee, and the drill sergeant hottie trainer from hell, I just keep asking myself, how did I end up here?

BOOK 3 – BLOOD BOND

Hybrids.
If I had to choose one word to sum up all of my problems, this would be it.
Without hybrids, I wouldn’t have to watch my best friend slowly becoming a monster. Without hybrids, I could let go of the mentality “hunt or be hunted.” CHAS wouldn’t be scouring the Earth, intent on slaughtering and using Alex to do it. Without hybrids, I wouldn’t have to be on guard that losing my temper meant losing my shape. There would be no monster inside me, struggling to get out.

Then again, without hybrids, I wouldn’t have Wesley St. John.

BOOK 4 – BLOOD RULE

Forty-six.
That’s how many hybrids survived the Hunter attack in the woods after I revived them with an injection of my blood. That’s how many followed me home to Frederick Falls. And that’s how many were now mentally linked to me through a blood bond.

Two days. Three valium. Fourteen hours of sleep.
That’s what it took to realize I wasn’t losing my mind as a result of the noise in my own head.

Sixteen.
That’s how many days have passed since I almost killed Alex. That’s how many days I’ve sat by his bedside, waiting for him to wake up. To ease the guilt, to understand his betrayal, to remember the exact shade of brown in his eyes.

Zero.
That’s my chances of skating by with Gordon Steppe and the Hunter Council. They want me for questioning. I’m afraid what’ll happen if I give them answers.

Excerpt

I complete another tour around the baggage carousel and recheck the time. Hobart International Airport needs to review its name. The last overseas flights were canceled years ago.
The wall clock taunts me. Surely more than three minutes have elapsed since the last time I checked.          The distant engine drone cuts through the terminal chatter, growing steadily louder. My scalp prickles. God, I despise air travel. Only a few more minutes and she’ll be safe on the ground, here in Tasmania, crossing the tarmac. Breath bottles in my chest. I rub my palms on my jeans and pull down my hat.
         Talia.
A thousand images strike my brain like sudden lightning. Her sexy lips quirking when she’s privately amused or ragging on me. Those bright eyes and wild hand gesticulations. The way my whole body simultaneously revs and calms from her touch.
Muscles fire down my body’s length, concentrating a heated flare in one particular region.
         Down, boy.
         Fucking hell, I’m nervous.
A typical bogan, red-faced and outfitted in a faded rugby shirt, jostles against me beside the arrival door. He fails to subdue the supersize rose bouquet exploding out of his beefy arms. “How ya goin’, mate?” he asks with a proud shrug, proceeding to mistake my aggravation for polite interest. “Got to treat the missus right, ’ey?”
I avoid humoring this blokey conversation by giving a curt nod.
         Shit.
Talia isn’t expecting flowers, is she?
The thought never occurred to me. I yank a retractable pen from my back pocket and click the button.
         Tick, tick, tick.
The bogan peers through the lifeless blooms; his thick lips frown in my direction.
         Tick, tick, tick.
Never understood the big attraction in giving a girl dead blossoms as a symbol of affection.
         Tick, tick, tick.
The bogan grumbles under his breath and moves away.
I can’t help irritating dudes like him. It’s a gift.
Outside the terminal, a thunderous engine roar signals touchdown. The din dials to a high whining hum as the plane taxis. It’s been two months since I flew halfway around the world and begged Talia for a second chance. Despite everything, a miracle happened. She took my dumb ass back. I wondered if she’d wise up, reconsider. Moving to Australia is a big deal. Takes effort, commitment.          Would have been easy to back out.
Will she ever know—truly grasp—that I died a little every day waiting for her?
The first passengers trickle in, becoming a flood. I dismiss the unknown faces.
         You don’t matter.
         Don’t care about you either.
         Or you, love. Shuffle along.
         The crowd shifts.
         There.
Familiar copper eyes lock with mine and doubt evaporates. In three steps—four if you count me sidestepping the human rosebush—Talia is in my arms.
         “Hey, you,” she whispers.
I spin her around and the whole world blurs like a piece of abstract art, our lips the only concrete entities. She tastes exactly the same—warm, salty, with a hint of mint. This is a kiss of victory. Talia and I, we pulled off an impossible stunt.

About Lia

Lia Riley writes offbeat New Adult Romance. After studying at the University of Montana-Missoula, she scoured the world armed only with a backpack, overconfidence and a terrible sense of direction. She counts shooting vodka with a Ukranian mechanic in Antarctica, sipping yerba mate with gauchos in Chile and swilling XXXX with stationhands in Outback Australia among her accomplishments. When not torturing heroes (because c'mon, who doesn't love a good tortured hero?), Lia herds unruly chickens, camps, beach combs, daydreams about as-of-yet unwritten books, wades through a mile-high TBR pile and schemes yet another trip. She and her family live in Northern California.

Synopsis:
The day my life took an inevitable detour things got a little crazy.
My name is Essalin Brant, but everyone calls me Essa. I attend a small college in a tiny town, and in my twenty-two years of life I’ve never even traveled outside the state of Pennsylvania. You could say my life is pretty boring. I live by the rules. I’m a good girl and nothing exciting ever happens.

But that’s all about to change.

Enter Farren Shaw. Not only is he older and intimidating, but he’s more sure of himself than any 29-year-old man has a right to be. Did I mention that he’s drop-dead gorgeous? Well, he is. He also happens to be my best friend Haven’s brother. And I would be content with just fantasizing about Farren from afar, but when Haven suddenly goes missing, her gorgeous brother is the only one who believes me when I say she was abducted, even though all signs seem to suggest Haven left town willingly.

I know better, though. As does Farren. So when he asks me to accompany him to search for his sister, I accept.

That’s when the real adventure begins.

Our quest to find Haven takes us across the country. And throughout the time we spend together, I find myself falling for Farren . . . falling hard. He's everything I’ve ever wanted. But is he really someone I should fear?

Because aside from making me feel things I’ve never felt before, Farren is hiding something. Something big. What could this stunning man be keeping from me? And why? Is Haven’s disappearance somehow connected to his mysterious job?

All I know is that things are about to get real.

Welcome to the Inevitable Detour that has become my life.

Interview:

  1. How did you come with the idea for the Inevitability Series?

The first scene that came to me was actually out of the blue. It’s a scene that occurs midway through the book. I kept picturing a quaint motel out in the New Mexico desert. I saw the adobe exterior, the desolate surroundings, and the neon sign with the name Blue Cactus Inn. I guess you could say that from that point on, Inevitable Detour was born.

  1. Who do you seeing playing Essa & Farren on the big screen?

Oh, that’s a tough one. If David Gandy, the model, were an actor, I’d choose him to play Farren. He has “the look” I saw in my head. As for Essa, someone like Dakota Fanning make a good Essa.

  1. At what age did you know you were meant to write amazing stories?

First, I hope they’re all amazing! Ha-ha …But seriously, I started writing bits and pieces of stories when I was a kid.

  1. Is there a genre out there you’re afraid to tackle?

Hmm, I’d have to say comedy. I’d love to write a really funny book, but I think to do it well you have to naturally be funny. I have my moments, but I’m not a comedienne at heart.

Essa or Farren:

Who’s more likely to:

Get a tattoo on a dare?   Farren

Break for kittens?   Essa

Take a bullet for the other?   Farren

Never crack under pressure?   Farren

Sing in the car at the top of their lungs?   Essa

(I love those, by the way.)
