Here's a special release day reveal of Chapter 1!! Chapter 1.

Chapter 1. Broken Pieces
She hasn’t cried. She doesn’t cry for me—but I know how fragile she is.
I want to break her. I want to push her hard enough to see her shatter. I want to see the shards of her on the ground.
How fucking beautiful would she be, when she put herself back together? She would. Nurrin is too stubborn to do anything but survive.
Nurrin is a first, born to a world of death. She is innocent of the life before the change. She has never known anything but Hale Halls, razor wire, and walls. She has never known she could be anything but a survivor.
I watch the sun rising over the canyon. In another world, people might have exclaimed over the beauty, stared at it in wonder.
To me, the red-washed sky means only one thing: it’s almost time to leave.
I glance over my shoulder. She retreated to the sleeping area a few hours ago, after we fought over leaving immediately. I think there is a part of her that hopes Collin will come back. A supply run wouldn’t be completely unjustified.
My lips twist.
Collin wouldn’t leave the Hole, not unless he had to. Not when he knew that it’s the only place I would take Nurrin. He’s gone because something is wrong.

{Blog Tour: Review + This Or That} Anthem's Fall - By S.L. Dunn

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Author: S.L. Dunn
Website
Release Date: 7/31/2014
Purchase Info: Amazon ~ B&N
Above a horrified New York City, genetics and ethics collide as the fallen emperor and a banished exile of the same herculean race ignite into battle over the city’s rooftops. In the streets below, a brilliant young scientist has discovered a technology that can defeat them both, yet might be more terrible than either.
Set both in modern New York City and in the technologically sophisticated yet politically savage world of Anthem, Anthem’s Fall unfurls into a plot where larger than life characters born with the prowess of gods are pitted against the shrewd brilliance of a familiar and unlikely heroine.
Never would I have fathomed that such an in depth, complex book could suck me in like this.
Now don't get me wrong, there are a lot of books that I read with complexity, but Anthem's Fall had multiple worlds, genetics and more scientific terms then I care to shake a stick at. Funny thing is with all of these aspects the plot and story line remained clear....it just meshed.
Kristen is the first character you initially meet, kid genius who was recruited into this special "think tank" team who is working to generate a synthetic type cell. What struck me with Kristen is she spoke her mind, that is one of my favorite characteristics in books. Especially when it comes from a female. (Because honestly when guys do it I sometimes want to smack them.)
Throughout the book you eventually cross over into Anthem, where similar testing's are being done with synthetic cells. Without spoiling anything, let's just say things get ugly....and they get ugly fast. Issues escalate, death happens, and now Anthem's people are looking for answers.
One thing I loved about Anthem was the massive range of character types there were. It wasn't just all super heroes, the author really added a new horizon with some of these "mutants".
Overall I truly can't wait to see where the rest of this series goes, the way the book ended it leaves the author with a WIDE variety of options as to which way this series can go!
This Or That
Food! (I love food)
Spicy or Savory
I like spice, but at the end of the day savory is a mainstay.
Sweet or Sour
Sweet.
Mexican or Chinese
Mexican. A thousand times over.
Burger or Mac N Cheese
I don’t eat meat, so Mac N Cheese. Don’t hold it against me.
Hot Dog or Corn Dog
Soy-dog. Ugh. It absolutely is as bad as it sounds, don’t listen to your vegetarian friends.
1 Year eating only Cereal or 1 Year eating only Bacon
Cereal. Cereal is strangely good considering the production value. Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds for the win.
Homemade cookies or Homemade cupcakes
Oh man, this one’s hard. Have to go with cookies.
Ice cream or Popsicles
You crazy?? Ice cream.
Fresh from the garden tomatoes or Fresh from the garden cucumbers? (If you hate vegetables we can not be friends anymore)
Cucumbers, the most underrated vegetable in the patch. On an unrelated side note, cucumber infused vodka is a libation of the gods.
Going without meat or going without carbs
This one’s easy since I don’t eat meat anyway.
Traveling the world as a food critic or instantly becoming the worlds greatest chef
World’s greatest chef. This goes back to the old “give a man a fish or teach a man to fish” scenario, right?
{Blog Tour: Review + Giveaway} Carrier - By Anne Tibbets
Author: Anne Tibbets
Release Date: 6/16/2014
Purchase Info: Amazon ~ B&N
Twenty-two -year-old Naya has spent nearly half her life as a sex slave in a government institution called The Line. When she’s kicked out after getting pregnant with twins, she’s got no way to earn a living and a horrifying choice to make: find someone to replace her, or have her babies taken in her stead.A doctor with a history of aiding ex-Line girls, Ric Bennett, wants to help. He runs a team of rebels that can delete Naya’s records and free her forever. But when The Line sniffs out his plan, things get bloody, fast. Naya means more to them than just a chance at fresh faces—her twins are part of the government’s larger plan.
As they hide from government search parties, Ric comes to admire Naya’s quiet strength. And Naya realizes Ric might be a man she can trust. If they make it off the grid, they could build a new life. But first they’ll have to survive the long, vicious reach of The Line
Don't judge a book by it's synopsis....what???
Honestly I loved the synopsis of Carrier, the cover drew me in....but still as I started this book I was slightly leery of the actual premise of the book. A sex slave....a pregnancy....dystopia...I figured the author was either going to butcher this or create something so incredible blended that it would blow my mind.
(I'll let you guess which of these happened for me)
Naya is strong, because she had to be, both physically & emotionally. Being sold at such a young age into such an underground world could break a girl, hell it makes me quiver just thinking about it. For Naya it's a way of life. When her retirement is forced and she has a debt to pay, survival mode kicks in. Finding a way out of this debt is her focus & drive...then Ric enters the picture.
At this  point I truly don't want to cause any spoilers, but the book takes a great turn for me. There's just something about a plot twist that puts me on the edge of my seat.
Thank the book gods there wasn't a total cliff hanger at the end of this book....but I want this story to continue on, badly! So go out, grab this book & devour it!
  EXCERPT:
From opposite the long table of food, the brunette gave him a blatant once over as he came to a stop in front of her, twirling a strand of purple hair around her fingertip. When she reached his lucky belt buckle, her sinful lips twitched.
“If the words, ‘Come here often,’ leave your mouth, I swear I’ll laugh you straight back to roadie-ville.” Her words were harsh, but the smile that sprang free was playful, and Tyler found himself mesmerized by the familiar twang of her southern voice.
So much so that he’d almost missed what she said.
“Roadie-ville?”
“Sorry, do you prefer techie?” Her cute nose wrinkled as she stuck her hands in her back jeans pocket. “I heard someone else say that earlier, but I swear that sounds like a computer nerd.” She looked him up and down again, this time her gaze lingering around his hips. Slightly south of the belt buckle. Hot damn. “I think roadie fits you better. Sounds sexier.”
Tyler scratched the side of his jaw. Was she messing with him? He’d heard a hell of a lot of come-ons since making it to Nashville and had been propositioned in every way possible. But this was a first. The woman stared back, smiling that damn seductive smile, and he realized she honestly had no clue who he was. For some reason, he was in no hurry to correct that just yet.
He couldn’t recall the last time he’d gone anywhere without being recognized, much less his own concert. But since the room was swarming with crew, Tyler could understand the confusion…if she weren’t a hardcore fan, and clearly, this woman wasn’t. Tyler swiped a hand over his mouth, hiding a smile.
“Sugar, you can call me anything you like,” he drawled, laying it on thick even to his own ears. Her pretty lips parted, and he grinned. “And what can I call you?”
Her smile twisted into a smirk. “Who said you could call me at all?”
He laughed, shocked again, and for the first time in a long time, speechless.
She winked. “I’m Sherry.” When she said her name, she looked right into his eyes as if he should remember it, and he had no doubt that he would. The confidence pouring off her was sexy as hell. “And…you are?”
“Tyler,” he replied, glad she’d gone with just her first name so he could do the same. The rest of the world simply referred to Tyler as Blue, the front man for the band bearing his last name. Even so, he stood back and waited for a sign of recognition.
It never came.
When it became obvious she really had no clue who he was, nor would she guess any time soon, Tyler felt a knot of tension release between his shoulder blades.
“So, Sherry, you planning to watch tonight’s show?”
She pulled a face. “I’m not much for country, other than the line dances. All those songs about trucks and trains and whiskey and dogs, though that last one I can forgive.” Her smile softened and Tyler moved closer, wanting to be nearer the genuine warmth of it. “No offense to your boss or anything,” she added with a slight grimace. “I heard he’s pretty hot…even if he is the man-whore of country music.”
A shocked laugh burst from his lips. “Excuse me?”
She waved her comment away, as if she hadn’t just insulted him to his face—which, he guessed, she hadn’t really. At least not on purpose. “Just a theory I have. I’m sure he’s a perfectly adequate boss.”
Now, Tyler laughed for real. “Yeah, he’s…adequate.” Shaking his head, he propped his hip on the table. This was the most fun he’d had with a woman in months—and they both still had their clothes on.
{Blog Tour: Review + Giveaway} Division Zero - By Matthew S. Cox
Author: Matthew S. Cox
Website
Release Date: 3/7/2014
Purchase Info: Amazon ~ B&N
Most cops get to deal with living criminals, but Agent Kirsten Wren is not most cops.
A gifted psionic with a troubled past, Kirsten possesses a rare combination of abilities that give her a powerful weapon against spirits. In 2418, rampant violence and corporate warfare have left no shortage of angry wraiths in West City. Most exist as little more than fleeting shadows and eerie whispers in the darkness.
Kirsten is shunned by a society that does not understand psionics, feared by those who know what she can do, and alone in a city of millions. Every so often, when a wraith gathers enough strength to become a threat to the living, these same people rely on her to stop it.
Unexplained killings by human-like androids known as dolls leave the Division One police baffled, causing them to punt the case to Division Zero. Kirsten, along with her partner Dorian, wind up in the crosshairs of corporate assassins as they attempt to find out who – or what – is behind the random murders before more people die.
She tries to hold on to the belief that no one is beyond redemption as she pursues a killer desperate to claim at least one more innocent soul – that might just be hers.
Love, love, love!
Honestly there are so many aspects of Division Zero that had me looking at the author with completely wonderment. One of my favorite scenes in this entire book is the opening action sequence. It was like a mixture of House on Haunted Hill meets X-Men, with a dash of Saw.....it was gruesome and creepy and amazing!
During the entire book there wasn't a single moment when I was bored, or felt like there was too much going on, because honestly it was written so well. Gifts, ghost, smart ass partners, Templeton....mmmm, Templeton....everything in this book pulled together to create a phenomenal plot, as well as story line. One aspects I enjoyed a lot in Division Zero was how "transformed" the earth was in the future. Different sectors, underground movements, there's a war on Mars and even abandoned areas no one will go.
Ok, now onto Kirsten! Kickass mama-jama!
She has been through so much, exposed to so much, and is only in her early twenties. Working with Division 0 since she was a teen, abandoned and trying to figure things out on her own, Kirsten has a pretty good head on her shoulders. Though the lonliness does hurt, she's has one of the most feared abilities on earth, (That can make it hard to land a man), Kirsten is dealing with major emotional trauma from her past. It's really interesting to see her deal with all of this during the book, or should I say how Dorian pokes at her about it the entire time. LOL.
Overall this book was fantastic! The way the side plots came together at the end and had you totally saying,  "HOLY!", made the ending to the book that much better. When an author can create something this different it hooks me instantly, which is why it took my only days to finish!
