Conjured - By Sarah Beth Durst

Eve has a new home, a new face, and a new name—but no memories of her past. She’s been told that she's in a witness protection program. That she escaped a dangerous magic-wielding serial killer who still hunts her. The only thing she knows for sure is that there is something horrifying in her memories the people hiding her want to access—and there is nothing they won’t say—or do—to her to get her to remember.

At night she dreams of a tattered carnival tent and buttons being sewn into her skin. But during the day, she shelves books at the local library, trying to not let anyone know that she can do things—things like change the color of her eyes or walk through walls. When she does use her strange powers, she blacks out and is drawn into terrifying visions, returning to find that days or weeks have passed—and she’s lost all short-term memories. Eve must find out who and what she really is before the killer finds her—but the truth may be more dangerous than anyone could have ever imagined.

~ Very Different, there's just something about this that totally strikes me as awesome~

Ignite Me - By Tahereh Mafi

Juliette now knows she may be the only one who can stop the Reestablishment. But to take them down, she'll need the help of the one person she never thought she could trust: Warner. And as they work together, Juliette will discover that everything she thought she knew-about Warner, her abilities, and even Adam-was wrong.

In Shatter Me, Tahereh Mafi created a captivating and original story that combined the best of dystopian and paranormal and was praised by Publishers Weekly as "a gripping read from an author who's not afraid to take risks." The sequel, Unravel Me, blew readers away with heart-racing twists and turns, and New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia said it was "dangerous, sexy, romantic, and intense."

Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and climactic end.

~ DUDE, DUDE, DUDE.....words won't do this justice~

Evertrue - By Brodi Ashton

Now that Nikki has rescued Jack, all she wants is to be with him and graduate high school. But Cole tricked Nikki into feeding off him, and she’s begun the process of turning into an Everliving herself... which means she must feed on a Forfeit soon — or die.

Terrified for her survival, Nikki and Jack begin a desperate attempt to reverse the process using any means possible. Even Cole, who they expected to fight them at every turn, has become an unlikely ally — but how long can it last? Nikki needs to feed on Cole to survive, Cole needs Nikki to gain the throne in the Everneath, Jack needs Nikki because she is everything to him — and together, they must travel back to the Underworld to undo Nikki’s fate and make her mortal once more. But Cole isn’t the only one with plans for Nikki: the Queen has not forgotten Nikki’s treachery, and she wants her destroyed for good. Will Nikki be forced to spend eternity in the Underworld, or does she have what it takes to bring down the Everneath once and for all?

In this stunning conclusion to the Everneath trilogy, Brodi Ashton evokes the resiliency of the human spirit and the indomitable power of true love.

~ PURDY, and honestly I love how the author kept such a closely mimicked style with each cover in the triolgy!~

The Unbound - By Victoria Schwab
Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books. Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Last summer, Mackenzie Bishop, a Keeper tasked with stopping violent Histories from escaping the Archive, almost lost her life to one. Now, as she starts her junior year at Hyde School, she's struggling to get her life back. But moving on isn't easy -- not when her dreams are haunted by what happened. She knows the past is past, knows it cannot hurt her, but it feels so real, and when her nightmares begin to creep into her waking hours, she starts to wonder if she's really safe.

Meanwhile, people are vanishing without a trace, and the only thing they seem to have in common is Mackenzie. She's sure the Archive knows more than they are letting on, but before she can prove it, she becomes the prime suspect. And unless Mac can track down the real culprit, she'll lose everything, not only her role as Keeper, but her memories, and even her life. Can Mackenzie untangle the mystery before she herself unravels?

With stunning prose and a captivating mixture of action, romance, and horror, The Unbound delves into a richly imagined world where no choice is easy and love and loss feel like two sides of the same coin.

~ Eerily beautiful....something about this gives me chills, but in a totally good way ~

Fragile Spirits - By Mary Lindsey

Vivienne never does what she’s told.

So when Paul is matched with Vivienne, they both find the pairing less than satisfactory. But a kidnapping, a malevolent spirit and power stronger than both of them may just prove that they are two halves of the same whole. In a stunning story about the beauty of fate and the power of secrets, Mary Lindsey returns to the world of Shattered Souls with a breathtaking thrill-ride of a novel.

Review: Stone Guardian - By Danielle Monsch (Entwined Realms #1)

Author: Danielle Monsch
Website
Release Date: 7/3/2013
Purchase Info: Amazon ~B&N

Gryphons flying past skyscrapers? Wizards battling it out in coffeehouses? Women riding motorcycles with large swords strapped to their backs? All normal sights since the Great Collision happened twenty-six years ago.

Well, not normal for everyone. Larissa Miller may have been born after the Great Collision, but as a history teacher who lives in the human-only city, she has never come into contact with any other race or species, nor has she wanted to. Her life is as ordinary as it gets - that is, until one day she walks out of her apartment and is attacked by a mob of Zombies, only to be saved by a Gargoyle.

Gargoyles trust no one outside their Clan, but due to a cryptic prophecy, Terak, Leader of the Gargoyles, has been watching over the human woman for months. While he can find no reason why the woman has been singled out, something about her stirs every protective instinct within him. When the attack confirms that the threats against her exist and are real, he convinces Larissa that though their races have never been allies, the best chance of discovering why she has been brought into his world is by working together.

In the course of their investigation Terak becomes entranced by his little human. But when he discovers why Necromancers want her and the great reward that awaits him if he betrays her, he must choose between the welfare of his Clan and not only Larissa’s life, but the fate of this New Realm as well.

Surprisingly Sexy!

Stone Guardian was exactly what my inner bookie wanted! Lately I had been reading a lot of YA, so the blend of naughty, magic and forbidden love, fit me like a glove!

First, I have to say, can I pleeeeeeease be stalked by an overbearing Gargoyle?
Sound like a strange request right? That was honestly my very first thought when reading Terak's thoughts about Larissa..."How is this going to work? Dude, made of a stoney substance, with a tail I might add, romantically involved with a human chick??"....then of course, like a plot genius, the author writes something in that TOTALLY blew my mind.

Yep, never saw it coming! And just like that it sweeps you away into this whirlwind relationship.

I can't lie, Terak & Larissa have me in awe of them. Not only do they share a burning hot romance, but their values & morals are so equal I can't help but admire them a little. At times they both teeter on the line of ,~ What's best for me ~ and ~ What's best for those around me~, genuinely struggling with it in their hearts. Having each other made them realize what's important, and trusting each other made the choices clear.

Ok, now give me a minute to gush about my favorite supporting character, Fallon. I personally have decided she is one of thee top bad-ass female warrior characters I have ever met! She's a statuesque,  giant sword wielding, ginger, who does what she wants & when she wants to. Her part in protecting Larissa is key, though killing everything in her way is what I truly like about Fallon.

Speaking of keeping Larissa safe, who wants to kidnap her anyways?? Trust me when I say you would never have remotely thought of this motive...like ever! Seriously, each possible scenario, with about a million different villains ran through my mind. That is except the one it really was!

Danielle made the plot in this book flow like the Nile, because I swear there wasn't a dull moment at all! If I didn't have 3 kids & work 40+ hours a week I would have stayed up ALL night to finish it! Each character made me want to read a book specifically about them. This world that was created is absolutely beautiful, twisted and edgy, all at once.
I've already hounded Danielle about when book #2 will be out, plus who it will center around, and I for one can not wait to see where she takes this series!

About the Author

I love writing about enchanted road trips, cursed storytellers, shadow worlds, and alien romance while eating lots of popcorn. I live in a tree house on California's central coast. After twenty-plus years as a freelance graphic designer/animator with clients including E! Entertainment Television and The Los Angeles Times, I left the real world behind and followed my heart into the world of fiction. Little known fun facts––I can't kill a spider but would gladly kill the tomato-plant eating gophers in my yard if I could get my hands on them, I wouldn't mind dying in a vat of salted carmel ice cream from Portland's Salt & Straw, next on my dream list is a trip to Indonesia, I daydream of doing stand-up comedy when I'm not completely terrified of it.

Review: Relic - By Renee Collins

Author: Renee Collins
Website
Release Date: 8/27/2013v
Purchase Info: Amazon ~ B&N

After a raging fire consumes her town and kills her parents, Maggie Davis is on her own to protect her younger sister and survive best she can in the Colorado town of Burning Mesa. In Maggie’s world, the bones of long-extinct magical creatures such as dragons and sirens are mined and traded for their residual magical elements, and harnessing these relics’ powers allows the user to wield fire, turn invisible, or heal even the worst of injuries.

Working in a local saloon, Maggie befriends the spirited showgirl Adelaide and falls for the roguish cowboy Landon. But when she proves to have a particular skill at harnessing the relics’ powers, Maggie is whisked away to the glamorous hacienda of Álvar Castilla, the wealthy young relic baron who runs Burning Mesa. Though his intentions aren’t always clear, Álvar trains Maggie in the world of relic magic. But when the mysterious fires reappear in their neighboring towns, Maggie must discover who is channeling relic magic for evil before it’s too late.

Relic is a thrilling adventure set in a wholly unique world, and a spell-binding story of love, trust, and the power of good.

Unique, and breath taking!

I'm not going to lie, this is nothing like what I was expecting, which is a good thing. As my first line states unique, that word fits this book like a glove. Blending a genuine old west setting with a magical element that keeps every character on their toes, really kept me into this book until the absolute end.

Maggie, to me, was a great heroine. Attempting to find balance after such a life shattering event is hard, but she does what is necessary while maintaining moral, values and a good head on her should. Taking a job, making an honest living....that is until the very handsome Mr. Castilla makes her an offer she finds that not even she can turn down.
No she doesn't turn into his mistress (I thought that's where it was going), she starts learning about the different degrees of relics. From standard Sirens, to deadly Banshee, even the ultra rare - and outlawed - vampire relics. There isn't a single one that Mr. Castilla hasn't obtained. Maggie starts to realize there's something extremely special within her. The way she can feel  a relic is unlike any other, and of course Mr. Castilla wants to collect her rare ability like he collects rare relics!

There was a part, about 85% of the way through that I felt was a tad bit rushed....and unveiling of sort, if you wish to call it that....I wish that a little more time could had been spent digging into that secret, but I understand how the story line & side plots must all run their own course.

So now I HAVE to talk about Landon, I swoon! <3333333
Imagine wranglers, boots and a cowboy hat....mmmmmm...you get the picture. This boy stole my heart, and still hasn't given it back. The gentleness he holds for Maggie, the lengths that he'll go to just to ensure her safety, well being & dignity gives me chills. Every man should take notes from him!

Overall I really enjoyed this book! Relic was a deep breath of fresh air for me, it took any expectations that I had & morphed them into my wildest dreams. Take you favorite myths, splash them with magic, now add a dash of mystery, shake it all up & that will give you Relic!

Q & A + Giveaway Feature: Cipher - By Cindi Madsen

Summer Davis sees deaths before they happen. She attempts to live a normal life by focusing on the dance team and her quarterback boyfriend. But then the way-too-cheery Angel of Death shows up and tells her she’s a Cipher—a person chosen to help people who are going to die resolve problems with their loved ones. Ashlyn Moore, one of Summer’s classmates, is going to die, and she needs Summer’s help before that happens.

It’s nearly impossible to get through to Ashlyn, who surrounds herself with chess nerds and geeks and makes it clear she doesn’t want to be friends. Desperate to complete her Cipher task before it’s too late, Summer turns to Troy, the guy who’s always been there for her and one of the few people she can trust. With his help, she makes progress. In fact, the closer she gets to Ashlyn and her friends, the more she feels like she’s finally found where she belongs.

As the clock starts running down on Ashlyn’s life, Summer decides to change her objective. She’s going to save her new friend before it’s too late—even if it means messing with fate.

Yay!

Today I have the pleasure of having author Cindi Madsen stopping by to spread the Blitz about her latest book, Cipher, which looks amazing!

I was actually able to ask Cindi 1 question for my stop, and here it is:

Q: What would be your ideal number of books for the Cipher series? Trilogy? 20+ like Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter?? (That's waaaay too many, lol)

A: I knew I wanted it to be a 3 book series, with each book being complete in the fact that there’s one Cipher job that’s seen through from beginning to end, but that altogether the three books show how Summer grows as a Cipher .

Oh and guess what?! We have a Summer & Troy teaser people!! Boy, is it a good one too.....

Review: Enemy Within - By: Angeline Kace

Author:  Angeline Kace
Website
Release Date: 4/30/2013
Purchase Info: Amazon ~ B&N
Two guys who’ve stolen her heart.
Three races and only one of them worthy.
Countless enemies with insatiable bloodlust for power.
Will one girl's curse ultimately save her?

Half-vampire Brooke Keller barely survived the slaying of her worst enemy, only to learn that Zladislov—the world's most powerful vampire, leader of the vampire world, and her father—wants her dead. However, this time, she's not only fighting vampires but a raging monster within her that endangers what's left of her humanity. And when a deadly disease threatens to take her best friend's life, Brooke tries to convince Kaitlynn to accept a monster of her own: becoming a Zao Duh.

As a former slave to the Pijawikas, Mirko is driven to protect the innocent at all costs, but he has never faced a foe more formidable than Zladislov. And when the Commission bears down on Brooke, Mirko finds the stream of enemies runs deeper than he ever imagined.

Holy steaminess!

Now I remember why I'm team Mirko!! That boy man can push me up against a wall any day of the week!

************

After "patiently" waiting for book #2, I absolutely devoured it. Something about the story, the connection to the characters, all made it seem so fresh & new to me. It took me a while to articulate exactly how to put this review....I went back and forth...and back and forth...nothing I said seemed to do justice to what I had just read. So, I waited. Now the words won't stop!

First things first! L-O-V-E!
The lengths that Mirko will go to keep Brooke safe, to protect her from her enemies, melted my heart....yet at the same time made me want to jump right into the book and join the fight with my bad ass ninja skills.
(and yes, they are bad ass!)

The love that he has for this girl is unfathomable. It knows no limits, it has no bounds, and there is a single thing in this world he wouldn't sacrifice for it. Burning bridges, assembling an army, or throwing a preppy blonde dude to the wolves, are simply a few sacrifices he would make for his girl.  Honestly, as the story evolves I start to see it in Brooke as well. Yes, she's experiencing one hell of a change, there are those feelings for that preppy blonde kid, but I can see where her heart truly it.

Must-get-back-on-track, I could sit here and talk about their love for dayyyyyyys.....

I absolutely have to give it to Angeline, there are some massive twists that I would never have seen coming, but she was able to brilliantly throw them into the story with ease. The fight scenes were written out like a could see it right in front of me....that it, if I wanted to see a bunch of blood and body parts flying every where...Though next time I want a guest spot so I can punch Brooke's dad in the face! He pisses me the hell off!

Over all, this was a fantastic cliff hanger for the final installment of this trilogy, and I for one can NOT wait to see how this story concludes!
