Sixteen-year-old Allie isn’t like other girls. Instead of spending her summer break sitting around on the beach, she takes the epic vacation of a lifetime.
And she’s not disappointed. Just a few miles from the town of Evansburg, Nebraska, Allie meets her dream of seeing a tornado. In person. She can’t wait to tell her friends back home. Never mind that her parents are going to kill her.
But her dream soon turns into a nightmare, and a strange event leaves her shocked. Confused. When she returns home to Wisconsin, something’s…different. Allie now bears a curse so awful, it could destroy everyone and everything she’s ever known.
With her best friend, Tommy, Allie must return to the plains to find a way to reverse it. She enters a world that she had never imagined, where she becomes a pawn in a fight to save the people of Evansburg from her fate…or to destroy them
Super Freakin' Cool!!
When have you ever had the main character turn into a tornado in a book??? Never, that's when!
The synopsis is what drew me into this book, though I had a slight hinge of doubt simply for how the author would made this believable. It is such an original concept for a book, that I threw all worry out the window and dove head first!
Allie was a relate-able, realistic character, who I felt was perfectly "normal" in her own skin. All she wants to do is chase storms with her uncle while leaving her parents happy & in the dark. After Allie is left reeling from a freak accident on her trip, her main focus is how to fix her newly developed problem. This is where the entire novel starts to move at mach speed. Deatils, side plots, twists from the previous chapters, all started to meld together into one fantastic story!
You're introduced to Tommy, Dorian and the Deathwinds......so much of the 2nd half of this book is literary gold, that I feel the need to just gush over it in extremely length detail! Instead I am going to leave you all hanging...longing for more......grasping the edge of your seat shouting WHY!!??
(insert evil cackle here......)
