The witch mark on Nin’s hand is a curse. She has no magic powers, whatever the lore says. But the village believes. The old crone’s wisdom is to see her banished. Ragged and hungry, she must serve the Mage. Alone in his tower, she is his chattel. But Mage Thabit is not what Nin expected—the bright green eyes and supple form under his cloak are not the stuff of nightmares, and kindness hides in his brusque heart. Thabit senses that Nin is more than she seems, too. When true nightmares haunt the land, it is precisely her elusive powers that might deliver them…

Talk about TWISTS!

I am absolutely blown away with how thoughtout and maticuous this entire book was from the cover to cover. Each relationship was plotted and planned, there's a true reason behind every encounter & passing. It was beautiful!

My first thought of Nin was brave.....I mean who just lives in a Mage's tower to serve them without a second thought? She does start to realize that there's something else about her, and so does Thabit. He feels a power within her, and even with their growing attraction he knows that she needs further help tapping into it. He ends up taking her to someone he knows will help her magical ability more than he can, Lady Cassandra. Honestly, I felt that he had some reservations about taking her in the first place. Thabit is very protective of Nin, and I think it's sweet.

As Thabit & Nin arrive at Lady Cassandra's kingdom, a strange dark magic is unleashed upon it. Death is everywhere and Nin's hidden magic seems to be the only thing that can save everyone.

Enter the plot twist! Man, was it a DOOZY too! I want to just reveal everything about what happened in the last 1/3 of the book, but that's not fair to anyone....so let's just say that people are crossed and your heart will break! So go out, grab this book, and don't plan on getting anything done for the next 24-48 hours!

5/5
