Resilient, kickass, and determined, Aislinn's walled herself off from anything that might make her feel again. Until a wolf picks her for a bond mate and a Celtic god rises out of legend to claim her for his own.
Aislinn Lenear lost her anthropologist father high in the Bolivian Andes. Her mother, crazy with grief that muted her magic, was marched into a radioactive vortex by dark creatures and killed. Three years later, stripped of every illusion that ever comforted her, twenty-two year old Aislinn is one resilient, kickass woman with a take no prisoners attitude. In a world turned upside down, where virtually nothing familiar is left, she’s conscripted to fight the dark gods responsible for her father’s death. Battling evil on her own terms, Aislinn walls herself off from anything that might make her feel again in this compelling dystopian urban fantasy.
Fionn MacCumhaill, Celtic god of wisdom, protection, and divination has been laying low since the dark gods stormed Earth. He and his fellow Celts decided to wait them out. After all, three years is nothing compared to their long lives. On a clear winter day, Aislinn walks into his life and suddenly all bets are off. Awed by her courage, he stakes his claim to her and to an Earth he's willing to fight for.
Aislinn’s not so easily convinced. Fionn’s one gorgeous man, but she has a world to save. Emotional entanglements will only get in her way. Letting a wolf into her life was hard. Letting love in may well prove impossible.
I WANT MORE...NOW!
By far my new favorite series...I want to take a running leap into this world and never leave it! It bleed details, from the cave walls of Aislinn's home, to the ominous world of Taltos, each crack & stone was beautifully depicted.
There are so many layers of magical creatures to take in throughout Earth's Requiem, it could almost become overwhelming, but the author has a true talent to make sure you've soaked each type of character in before introducing the next. There's bond animals, ghost armies, evil lords who are essentially walking sex & Gods waiting in the wings. One of my favorite characters was Rune, though he may be a wolf, he's witty & brave. Struggling with a tremendous loss is what I felt truly brought him and Aislinn together....that and they're both slightly stubborn.
As a main heroine Aislinn kicked some definite ass! Being strong armed into working for people you don't trust was probably the 2nd hardest thing she ever had to do, but losing your family right before that really gave her the drive to ensure their deaths weren't in vain. She has a goal for seeking out vengence & at the beginning of the book it's unclear how that plan will transpire, so as Aislinn starts aquiring more and more gifts you can totally see where things are headed. She's becoming powerful, gaining allies, and plotting some game changing moves. She wants Earth back, the waste lands that were once populated with humans need to once again be populated by them....not by deadly monsters who seek warmth & flesh.
Oh boy....where to end....it's hard for me to go back and truly remember where book #1 ended and #2 began. They bled together perfectly, and honestly I jumped from one directly into the other (which makes it hard to decipher sometimes). I geniuenly encourage anyone who is reading this to not only buy Earth's Requiem, but the entire Earth Reclaimed Series, you absolutely will not be disappointed!
5/5
(I'd give it 6 if I could)
