Big Shoes - By Jack Getze
(Austin Carr Mystery Series)
Release Date: 9/17/2015
Genre: Mystery, Adult

Jersey Shore broker Austin Carr wants out of the stock and bond business but un-hooking from his mobbed-up partner won’t be painless. Angelina “Mama Bones” Bonacelli is best known for professional consultations that deteriorate into criminal violence, breakfast appointments raided by the FBI and one particular Power Point presentation to a Jersey state racing commission that ended in automatic weapons fire.

Good thing she likes Austin.

She just won’t let Austin out of the business. Plus Johnny “The Turk” Korsay is on a rampage and had his crooked cops arrest Luis, the bartender Austin’s best friend. Why? Because Austin saw The Turk kill Heriberto. And now he’s gunning for the stock broker.

It’s another brush with violent death and a sexy redhead for Austin Carr when Mama Bones and her rival Jersey associate of a fading New York crime family battle for the future of imported sex slaves, boardwalk tourist business and surprising horse racing secrets, past and present.

“Big Shoes is a five-star romp.”
--Rick Bylina, best-selling author of One Promise Too Many

Ten reasons to read BIG SHOES

1 Like the others, this Austin Carr book will probably make you laugh. About 75-80% of Amazon and Goodreads reviewers mention at least one form of laughter, i.e.; chuckle, giggle etc..
2 There’s a reasonable chance you’ll laugh very hard. About 20-25% of the same reviewers mentioned physical responses.
3 Austin Carr is a real oddball.
4 Embedded in this tale is a get-rich-scheme that actually worked. However, it’s extremely difficult, dishonest and illegal.
5 Mama Bones is a hoot. Gangster, cook and sage.
6 The story is fast-paced and exciting. Following his three earlier adventures, Austin’s world is collapsing in violence, and the only way out is to take sides and help win a local war between two New York-based crime crews.
7 As an author, I want to disappear. The characters in BIG SHOES talk, not me. The reader will never know how hard I worked to make the simple words flow easily. Here’s a quote from a favorite author of mine, Elmore Leonard, a technique I strongly believe in: “If it sounds like writing, I rewrite it.”
8 Like all my Austin Carr novels, this one is a fast read. One or two sittings.
9 There’s a fun twist and revelation at the end.

10 This is my best novel to date, written a decade after the first in the series, BIG NUMBERS. I have advanced my craft at conferences, seminars, week-long retreats and daily writing schedule, currently six to eight hours. I think most writers want to make each novel better. I know I do, and try hard. BIG SHOES is the first fiction of mine to win an award, the Deadly Ink Mystery Conference’s David Award for Best Mystery of 2015.
